Our Surgeons

Dr. Pierotti is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in general orthopaedics, with particular expertise in hip, shoulder, and knee joint replacement, fracture care, and conditions of the hand, wrist, and shoulder. He joined Dubuque Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C. in 1994 after earning his medical degree from the University of Iowa and completing his residency at The Ohio State University. His broad scope of practice allows him to care for patients of all ages and address a wide range of orthopaedic conditions.

A Dubuque native, Dr. Pierotti is proud to serve the community he calls home. Outside the clinic, he enjoys traveling, bicycling, and spending time with his family.

Dr. Cloos is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who joined Dubuque Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C. in August 2010. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Des Moines University and completed his residency at Midwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Cloos is dedicated to helping patients safely return to the activities they enjoy and maintains a strong commitment to staying current with the latest advancements in orthopaedic treatments and surgical techniques.

Originally from Springbrook, Iowa, Dr. Cloos now calls Dubuque home. Outside of the office, he enjoys staying active, spending time with his wife and children, hunting, gardening, and traveling.

Dr. Trumm is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who joined Dubuque Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C. in August 2018. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa and completed his residency at the University of Minnesota. He specializes in general orthopaedics, with advanced expertise in anterior hip replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, and reverse total shoulder replacement. Dr. Trumm is committed to providing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.

A native of Cascade, Iowa, Dr. Trumm values time with his wife and three children. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys family activities, playing golf, working out, traveling, and exploring new places.

John Burgmeier, PA-C, joined Dubuque Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C. in June 2023. He works closely with Drs. Stephen Pierotti, Ryan Cloos, and Bryan Trumm to provide comprehensive orthopaedic care. John earned his Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from Rocky Vista University and completed his Bachelor of Science at Loras College in Dubuque. He specializes in iovera®, an innovative cold therapy used to temporarily block nerve signals and manage pain. John is committed to ensuring his patients feel heard and valued, taking the time to address their concerns and provide efficient, compassionate care.

A Dubuque native, he is proud to serve the community he calls home. Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, and playing live music with his band.
